Friends of the Library, Ponte Vedra Beach SPEAKER SERIES

On Tuesday, January 18 the Friends will feature JIM DRAPER, a multi-talented
artist in drawing, painting, photography, video and writing.
Mr. Draper has taught drawing and painting at Florida Sate College and Flagler
College, but is now retired and working full-time in his studio.
Mr. Draper gets inspiration from journeys into the wild, as well as myriad
sources beyond nature in the form of conservationists, naturalists and other
artists known as experts in observation of the natural world.
His work can be seen in hundreds of corporate and private collections such as
Jacksonville Airport, Baptist Medical Center and United Nations Visitors’ Lobby
in New York City.

In his talk Defining a Radical Naturalism with slides, the artist will define the
intersection of the mind of our species and the balance of human interaction.
Mr. Draper will exhibit his work in the library’s entryway during January and February.
The program starts at 6:30 pm and the doors open at 6:00 pm.

Our Welcome Back Booksale was a big success. Thank you for your patronage!

We are grateful for the continued commitment of the Friends of the Library members and patrons that make all our support of the library possible. If you are not already a member, please consider becoming a member by completing the form for that purpose available in the bookstore.

Seymour’s, the used bookstore at the Ponte Vedra Beach branch of the St. Johns County Library system, opened on Wednesday, July 7. We are now taking donations. The donation box is located inside the lobby of the library. If you wish to make a large donation (the equivalent of three or more supermarket shopping bags), please call us at (904) 273-3990 during normal business hours (Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) to arrange an appointment for that purpose. Please note that Seymour’s is not taking donations of damaged books, magazines, textbooks, dictionaries or encyclopedias.

Your donations will serve the library, the bookstore and the community. The Friends of the Library has raised over a million dollars for the library in the last 25 years. This money was raised through memberships, book sales, and Seymour’s Bookstore. These funds have been used to build our community room, construct a new entrance to the library, purchase new furnishings, create a teen area, and buy computers for the children’s area. In addition, we provide each department of the library with an annual budget to purchase particular materials such as books, craft materials, games, software, or any item they might need for their children and adult programming. The FOL also provides the music and speaker series for the library which is free to the community.

Join the Community to Support Your Library!

The Friends of the Library (FOL), Ponte Vedra Beach, provide financial support for our local library. Through your $30 annual membership contribution, the Friends provide children and adult programs, materials, equipment, and community space for all residents to enjoy.
